Course in Oil Spill Response Management (IMO 2 Equivalent) - Face to Face

The Course in Oil Spill Response Management (IMO 2 Equivalent) is an interactive course that merges practical activities, facilitator-led theory with relevant real-world case studies. Participants develop their spill response knowledge and critical decision-making skills required to confidently coordinate and manage oil spill response operations.

Certification Validity: 3 years from date of issue

Target Audience:

Designed for personnel who are part of an organisation’s Incident Management Team (IMT) and/or those who may manage forward operating bases and field response teams.

You may also be eligible to join AMOSC’s Core Group through your member company upon successful completion.  Contact your Core Group Supervisor or AMOSC for more information.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of oil spill response fundamentals.
  • Execute specific roles and responsibilities within the core functions of an Incident Management Team.
  • Collaborate effectively within complex, multi-agency, cross-jurisdictional oil spill response teams.
  • Development and implement comprehensive Incident Action Plans
  • Evaluate real-time information and Oil Pollution Emergency Plans to deploy the correct strategies, equipment, and personnel.

Learning Methods:

A four (4) day face-to-face course. 
  • Classroom Theory (3 Days): Facilitator-led instruction and collaborative learning at a dedicated AMOSC training facility.
  • Scenario Simulations (1 Day): Hands-on, oil spill response scenario-based exercises conducted on-site to test and solidify classroom concepts.

  • Participants emerge fully equipped with the specialised qualification necessary to effectively manage, contribute and operate within an Oil Spill Incident Management Team.
