Core Group
What is the Core Group?
The Core Group comprises 130 highly trained personnel drawn from both Participating and Associated Member Companies within the Australian petroleum & energy industry. Its primary purpose is to provide a rapid and scalable surge capacity of trained responders to support marine oil spill incidents.
Key Features
- Structured Capability
The Core Group is made up of Incident Control Advisers, Incident Management Team (IMT) personnel, and Field Operators, many of whom have in-company supervisory skills and operate heavy-lift machinery in their daily roles. - Internationally Recognised Training
All members complete the Course in Oil Spill Response Operations (IMO Level 1 Equivalent) as a prerequisite to entry. This is followed by an advance, week-long, scenario-based workshop, which all members are required to attend biennially to renew their CG membership. - Coordination and Readiness
AMOSC maintains a monthly availability matrix and regularly tests the Core Group callout system. Member companies assess and report availability, ensuring that industry has daily visibility of personnel readiness through AMOSPlan.
