Oiled Wildlife Response Introduction Course

To provide potential responders an introduction to the processes and procedures within an oiled wildlife response.

Certification Validity: 3 years from date of issue

Target Audience:

This introductory course is designed for industry and agency personnel, and wildlife specialists involved in preparing for and responding to wildlife activities during an oil spill response in Australia. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Articulate the purpose, necessity, and unique logistical challenges of an oiled wildlife response.
  • Describe the various oil types and their specific physiological impacts on vulnerable wildlife.
  • Identify and apply critical health and safety protocols required when operating in an oiled wildlife environment.
  • Outline the key components and resource requirements for effective oiled wildlife response preparedness.
  • Recognize the specific local and regional wildlife species most commonly impacted during a spill.
  • Explain the standardised, multi-phased process of oiled wildlife response currently utilized across Australia

This is a 1-day trainer-led course delivered ONLINE via Microsoft Teams, or Face-to-Face upon request. The delivery is highly interactive, featuring group components, engaging case studies and practical workbook activities designed to facilitate effective learning.
